Vermont town data

How much are Vermont towns, local governments, and districts spending as a result of soil erosion, compaction, and water runoff?

If Vermont towns and watersheds were able to do a better job of absorbing rainfall, what would this mean for taxpayers? How big is the opportunity to cut costs, if ecological function were to be improved?

Please help with specific, local data using the form below, which will contribute to a crowd-sourced data collection effort. See responses here.

What are we spending as a consequence of soil loss, compaction, and ongoing erosion? What might we save if soils were functioning better? Some but not all of expenditures on road repair, culvert replacement, hardening of streambanks, water treatment, etc. can be attributed to poor soil function.

Using flour, bread, and water, Emaline shows in under 2 minutes how rainwater and flooding affect unaggregated (poorly structured) soils vs. aggregated (living) soils.
